I put Storm in his crate again last night before I went to bed, and woke up this morning to a whining dog, but a clean crate! Crate training works people, when you do it right that is. I admittedly had no clue what I was doing when I tried to crate train my other dog Lola, however this time I am doing it right and successfully.
For anyone interested and in need of help, the crate has to be just the right size for your dog, it cannot be to big. The crate should be just big enough for your dog to stand up in and turn around. I am currently leaving Storm in the crate for about 9 hours with no issues. You MUST feed and walk the dog before you put him/her in the crate and allow him/her to eliminate before going in the crate for the best chance at success. You should start crate time at smaller intervals to begin with and slowly increase the time.
Hopefully a few of us will be able to get together for training tonight, despite the weather being crappy, but hey, people get lost in the woods when it rains too.
